small shop service from local musicians

we don’t just sell you a guitar

We help you find the right fit.

We understand that each instrument is different and we can offer some of the best advice to help you discover the sound you’re looking for.

If your string instrument is in need of a repair, overhaul, or just a tune-up, our master technicians have over 60 years of combined experience in building guitars.

We speak mandolin, banjo, ukulele, guitar, and espanol.

We are a small shop that understands and cares about your musical needs. We are working musicians. We are your neighbors and we will treat you like family.

02

we welcome first-time buyers and long-time shoppers

We’re not here for the collectors. We love musicians, aspiring musicians, people who love music, and most of all, the music.

We are easy to reach from both the San Antonio International Airport and from Downtown.

From Downtown
We are at 4330 McCullough, and McCullough goes all the way downtown. In the old days, it was one of the few routes out of down town that didn’t cross railroad tracks. (A big deal when you have a wagon – I’ve heard. Never experienced it.) The maps and driving directions will help alot. Easy to know when you’re getting close because we’re just past the traffic circle/fountain.

pickups advice from mark

A lot has changed since I first began installing acoustic pickups and I’ve tried just about every pickup for acoustic guitar available. Recently, with innovations from L.R.Baggs like their Anthem, Lyric, and M-80 pickups, K&K’s Pure Mini, and Fishman’s Aura system we’ve moved much closer to the warm, organic plugged in sound we’ve all been seeking for so long.  They one is minimally invasive and can provide excellent stage sound, giving the player on-board control without the ugly hole in the side of your guitar.
